Below are several acoustical studies and simulations performed under the Rhino + Grasshopper environment:

Customized Grasshopper scripts were developed to simulate new panel systems and test acoustical performance. Shown below is one panel system currently being tested and considered. The system consists of rows of pivoting diamond-shaped reflective panels. Simulations show how sound would travel under different panel configurations.

The Birdhouse lamp series is a playful balance of materials in a clever, adjustable composition. Designed with post-modern architectural details in mind, the Birdhouse is a functional light with striking aesthetics that add to the harmony of any space.

Birdhouse Task Lamp is also available with the Owl Smart system for lighting which allows the colour temperature and intensity adjusted remotely with your smart phone or personal computer.

Owl is the first product of our Smart Furnishing collection. Owl, is a smart pendant light with light sensors, energy efficient LED bulbs and a multi-platform smart phone App. Owl; the smart light comes with an App for IPhone, Android and Blackberry devices as well as a web interface for personal computers accessible through a web browser.

As part of our Smart Furnishing collection we use smart phones or other personal handheld devices with wireless or internet access as a universal remote for home interiors and commercial environments. The App allows the user to adjust the color temperature; Warm to Cool White, and the intensity of the light with a dimmer effect directly from their handheld device.

This smart environmentally conscious system will provide the user with the energy consumption of the lighting-device during each session.

With different profiles and settings the user can create a new profile or select a pre-set program* which will run through a time based cycle to adjust the light according to the time of the day, location and environmental factors and specific preferences of the user.

The intuitive design of the interface and the plug and play architecture of the product makes Owl a versatile lighting device for any house hold, office or commercial space.

Tall is More was an installation as part of Architectural Exhibitions Series at the Harbourfront Center, Toronto, Canada. The project was directed by Richard Witt, RAW Design in September 2011.

The piece responds to CO2 levels of it’s environment as a measurement unit for the number of visitors in the room. Different CO2 levels would drive a model of an abstract tower structure to elevate to represent a mixed-used building between 30 to 105 storeys.

Accessible through the visitors smart phone in realtime, multiple screens would show the impact of the tower and analyse it’s performance in relation to :

• Population
• Pollution
• Consumption
• Potential of sustainable energy harvest
• Abstract relative performance of the proposed structure
